TLDR
Evan Turner was drafted second overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2010 NBA draft and also spent the course of his career playing for the Pacers, Celtics, Trailblazers, and Hawks.
During his time in the league, Evan competed against the best players including LeBron James, but admitted he never necessarily feared him.
Because Evan also played against Kobe Bryant, he was able to see the difference between Kobe and Bron, where Kobe was an assassin on the court that caused true fear.
As Evan explained Kobe and Bron are killers in different ways, he shared that his GOAT is actually Michael Jordan because of the legacy he left on the game and beyond.
Evan Turner was drafted second overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2010 NBA draft and spent the course of his career across four other NBA teams. From the 76ers, Pacers, Celtics, Trailblazers, and Hawks, Turner spent 10 years in the league and then pivoted after retirement to take on coaching as an assistant for the Boston Celtics in 2020.
During his time in the NBA, not only did Evan play with top players, he also played against the best as well — one of them being LeBron James. Turner knows firsthand the level of competitiveness the King brings to the court. But did Evan fear him?
“Bron is tough,” Evan said. “To sit here and say, ‘did I fear Bron personally?’ That's crazy to say because 28, 8, and 8 — your whole offense and your whole defense— everything is set towards him and you definitely comprehend what he's capable of.”

Another player Evan has the privilege of playing against early in his career was Kobe Bryant. Turner recalled a time when he grasped how much of a different beast the Mamba truly was.
“One of my teammates was like, ‘Before you go out there and shoot, Kobe's out there. Don't look at him, don't smile at him, don't look his way, don't let him see you staring, don't give him any type of edge, nothing.’ Talking about him like he was a real mamba, a real assassin. And I remember being like, ‘Wait, what?’ And he was like, ‘Bro, you heard me, just don't look his way. Anything he does, he's going to try to get an inside on you. Just don't do it, bro.’ For sure that was a certain type of fear where you see at a certain type of level. Did I hear that about Bron? No, those are two different types of killers. One was literally a crazy assassin. Another one always has a standard and elevation that you have to really rise to.”
Regardless of which player instills the most fear or not, there is no arguing Bron and Kobe’s elite level of talent. With these two great players in mind, the basketball world will always debate over who is the GOAT: Kobe, LeBron, or MJ. As someone who was raised in Chicago, it may be a bit obvious as to who Evan’s GOAT is.
“Jordan’s just great man,” Evan said. “LeBron could be the best player ever but MJ's was truly great. He was dominant… I just remember being a kid and he just seemed like a real-life superhero. The legacy left on the game is even with the swagger, the post-game, the mentality he had, the impression he left, the style, the shoes, all that stuff really plays a part. MJ is gonna be around forever, forever. He’s literally the GOAT.”
