Serena Williams just reminded the world that she's the GOAT.

The 23-time Grand Slam winner staved off retirement with an emphatic performance, upsetting second-ranked Anett Kontaviet in a thrilling three-set match in the U.S. Open's second round in New York. After winning a long first set and dropping the second, the GOAT dropped tough shot after tough shot in the third, as the star-studded crowd pushed her forward. Tennis can be a very lonely place; the uber-talented Kontaviet could do nothing to stem the tide of the entire sports world cheering for her opponent. It was a performance - based on the fact that she's only played six matches in 2022, and she loudly hinted at retirement in the lead-up to this tournament - that will stand the test of time. The aging superstar improbably thriving one final time is still the most fun thing to see.

Imagine trying to stop him in the open field

The young NBA star has shown that he still got it on the gridiron, while also stealing the show in one of the best movies of the year.

Edwards' throw got some NFL legends wondering if he was in the wrong sport. Could he eventually get bored with the hardwood and make a move? Should he eventually be marketed as this generation's Bo Jackson? Find out more about his journey in the latest episode of Athletes as Kids.

  • Ryan Reynolds, sword master? Before he became the co-owner of a hopeful soccer club, the Deadpool star, like so many other celebrities, sharpened his skills in one of the world's oldest and most dangerous sports.
