Ja Morant took his game to another level with these skills
The Memphis Grizzlies’ star has one of the craziest verticals in the league and we all want to know his secrets.
PRESENTED BY:
This video reveals what Ja holds in his arsenal, from his 3-point jump shot to elite driving and finishing abilities.
TLDR
Ja has improved upon the three-ball since entering the league and has a solid three-point shot that allows him to knock down when open.
Many are familiar with Ja’s elite ability to finish at the rim, as the All-Star can dunk and also get up a floater or a layup with ease.
Ja has one of the craziest verticals in the league at 44 inches. He can elevate quickly which makes it tough to guard his shot.
As a leader of the Grizzlies, Ja has also developed handles that allow him to drive, split screens, and go coast to coast.
Ja simply has a killer instinct where he lays it all on the court and displays the tendencies of a true competitor.
Ja Morant and the Grizzlies may have taken a first-round playoff exit to the Lakers, but that doesn’t hide the fact that Ja is still one of the most electric and athletic players in the league. Even when he first entered the NBA, Morant meant business as he solidified himself as 2020 Rookie of the Year. A few years later, Ja is still the face of the franchise as he carries the team with his crazy talent.

There is no question that Ja’s bag is deep which makes him a force to be reckoned with on the court. What are those moves that Ja uses to really open up the floor and punish defenders? Let’s get into it:
3-Point Jump Shot
Ja is no Steph Curry, but he is able to knock down those open jumpers when needed. The point guard has adjusted since coming into the league to hit 30% from behind the arc. At 6’3’’ and 174 pounds, a three-point shot can be used to his advantage. Although it’s nothing crazy, the main thing is he has the ability to hit those open shots.
Finishing at the Rim
The 3-ball may not be Ja’s main expertise, but one thing that he can do pretty well is posterize. Ja’s finishing ability is top tier and we’ve all seen the many highlights of him dunking over athlete after athlete. Many are familiar with it..after all, this guy has dunked on every team in the league. Not to mention, his floaters and lays are just as smooth… With the ability to finish with both hands too!
Xavien Howard’s Celebrity Softball Game
The inaugural Xavien Howard softball game is here and you don’t wanna miss out! This family fun Florida event will have all the entertainment from competitive activities, a home run derby, and the softball game. To be a part of this ultimate fan experience, be sure to buy your tickets now!
Elevation
As mentioned, Ja’s float game is crazy. He literally floats and suspends in the air with a recorded vertical of 44 inches. That’s only 4 inches less than Michael Jordans, which was said to be the highest in NBA history. Ja can quickly rise up and drop the ball from 12 feet away, making it tough to guard.
Handles
At 23 years old, Ja has developed elite handles that allow him to drive, split screens, and go coast to coast. As a leader on this team, Ja has the great court vision to distribute the ball and clear lanes. This season, the young star averaged 8 assists which is the most in his career so far but he definitely has room to up that number as he continues to make the right passes and plays to get his teammates open looks.
Killer Instinct
Ja has a fire underneath him every time he steps onto the court. The All-Star comes to play every night and locks all the way in. If it isn’t clear by the way he punches the ball into the hoop, Ja leaves no sympathy for the opponent. Ja is a true competitor. We saw how much he was committed to the game when he played through his hand injury during the first round of the playoffs and even put up 22 straight points in one quarter. Talk about must-see TV.
Ja clearly has a deep bag and as a young player in this league, he still is working on his craft to improve his strength, speed, and durability even more. He’s pretty much a walking highlight reel. Ja has built his skill up and isn’t letting up anytime soon, so be ready for more Ja highlights next season.
