World Cup Final Round Up from the Internet

It was all the hype going into the World Cup Final with two of the sport’s greatest athletes going head-to-head.

  • Both teams put up a good fight and put on one of the best shows for the world to witness.

Mbappé came out the gate with fire in his eyes and did not back down. He was the main man after he helped tie up the game, not once, but twice.

  • In the 117th minute, Mbappé scored a hat-trick and just like that, the score was 3-3 and the teams were headed into a shootout.

Mbappé scores hat trick in World Cup Final to tie Argentina at 3-3

Messi and Argentina ended up securing the victory in the shootout 4-2, winning the World Cup for the third time.

Mbappé came so close to leading France to back-to-back titles, but at just 23-years-old, still has a great career ahead of him.

  • He was awarded the Golden Boot after scoring 12 World Cup goals over 14 games and finishing as 6th-highest men’s World Cup scorer.

I’m sure you could guess the top scorer of the 2022 World Cup was handed to the one and only Messi.

  • As the star he is, he was awarded the Golden Ball for being the best player in the tournament.

The end of the Ronaldo vs Messi debate

After a record 26 appearances at the men’s World Cup, Messi can finally add to his legacy by saying he’s won a World Cup.

  • Btw, the man made more history after becoming the first in World Cup history to score in all five rounds at a single tournament. Drop the mic.

  • All these accolades sound like GOAT things to me. Can we put this debate to bed now?

Playoffs clinched 🏈

49ers beat Seahawks on TNF to clinch NFC West

Brock Purdy gets it done!

For the first time since 2019, the 49ers clinched the NFC West. It seems as though the rookie Brock Purdy really can carry this team.

  • After Thursday night’s 21-13 victory over the Seahawks, that now marks seven wins in a row for the Niners.

Since Purdy’s first two NFL starts, he’s also now 2-0. Looks like Mr. Irrelevant is the key.

  • The QB finished the game with two touchdowns while completing 17 of 26 passes for 217 yards. Take that!

CMC also did his thing, but has been for a few weeks now, after stepping into that full-time starter role.

  • He finished the game with 32 touches for 138 yards from scrimmage plus a rushing touchdown.

  • It was his fifth game with 100-plus scrimmage yards, so this was nothin’ new for him.

It always gotta feel good to enjoy a celebration on your nemesis’ field.

Matt Ryan blows 33-0 lead against the Vikings

The Vikings DID. THAT.

Not only did they clinch NFC North, but in Saturday’s game against the Colts, they pulled off one of the greatest comebacks to win the game 39-36.

  • With 8:22 left in the 3rd quarter, the score read 33-0. That was the largest comeback in NFL history. Insane.

  • Just after fans thought Matt Ryan couldn't blow another crazy historic lead… he did just that.

  • After being a complete ghost in the first half, Kirk Cousins showed up when it mattered most. After halftime, he threw for 417 of his 460, which is more than any NFL quarterback in the past 45 years.

  • The initial deficit was so bad, the Vikings were booed off the field at halftime. But by the end of the game, the Vikings left the field with a HUGE dub.

You probably won't win, but why not try 🤑

Kyrie Irving took a step-back three pointer to beat the Raptors at the buzzer

Kyrie Irving is a bad man!

In Friday night’s Nets vs. Raptors matchup, Kyrie came up clutch and helped his team get a dub 119-116.

  • There was less than 4 seconds left in the game and it was tied up at 116. You might have thought it was going to OT, but Uncle Drew said: nah, I got something for y’all.

  • He had something for Fred VanVleet in particular. The Raptor’s guard may have thought he could guard Kyrie, but nope.

  • The former Rookie of the Year took a stepback three to seal the game.

  • After 12 seasons, can you believe that was his first career buzzer-beater game-winning shot?! The first, but probably not the last.

At the end of the day, it was nothing but hard-fought competition between the two players.

  • After Raptor’s reporter tweeted out Kyrie’s post-game quote calling VanVleet as a winner and champion, VanVleet responded with “Respect🤝🏽”

Real recognize real.

Devin Booker after dropping 58 on 34 shots against Pelicans

D-Book is unstoppable 🔥

Devin Booker carried his team into a win of his own during their game against the Pels on Saturday.

  • Looks like the Suns’ star wanted a little get-back after their 2-game mini-series didn't go in their favor last week when the two teams faced each other.

  • There was no stopping Booker. He dropped 58 points, going 21-of-35 from the field and 6-of-12 from three.

  • The team was down by 24 points, but Booker had it in the bag all along. In his 42 minutes he notched a career-high 12,000 points.

  • He’s now the sixth-youngest player to hit that milestone. LeBron, Durant, Kobe, Carmelo, and McGrady are the other stars on that list.

  • Not to mention, Book is the first player in Suns history with five 50-point games.

That man is clearly built for it.

Jackson State loses to NC Central in OT of Celebration Bowl

That's all folks.

After the 41-34 loss to NC Central in the Celebration Bowl, Jackson State’s undefeated season is now wraps.

  • Deion Sanders leaves on a low note without a National Championship. Going out a bit sad.

  • Even with the L, Shedeur Sanders gave future fans something to look forward to next season, as he enters the transfer portal.

  • He was the main reason why the team made it into OT after he threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Travis Hunter as time expired in regulation.

The Tiger’s QB completed 30 of 40 passes for 349 yards and four touchdowns.

  • Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. Eagles quarterback Davius Richard’s rushing touchdown capped off a four-play, 25-yard drive in OT.

With Coach Prime now packed up, it’s surely the end of an era.

Southern Mississippi running back Frank Gore Jr. runs the ball during the second half of the NCAA college football game

Frank Gore Jr. went crazy in Saturday’s game against Rice.

In the 38-24 win, Gore set an all-time bowl record with 329 yards on just 21 carries. He also rushed for two touchdowns.

  • He was set for success after scoring from 64 yards out to put his team up 14-0 early in the second quarter.

  • The man was everywhere in every quarter. He threw an 18-yard touchdown pass in the third and ran for 55 yards for another score in the fourth.

  • Right before the trophy ceremony, Gore Jr. apparently told his dad about the record and let him know that he’s the best in the family.

Gore Sr.’s career-best rushing total in a 16-year NFL career was 212 yards.

  • Son definitely has dad beat with that one. It’s not on him, it’s in him!
