All hail the Heisman winner!
USC’s Caleb Williams takes home the 2022 Heisman Trophy.
Williams is now the eighth USC player to win the award. That’s now the record for most Heisman Trophies won by a university. Might have to start addressing the school as Heisman U.
It was quite the historic year for Williams so it’s no surprise he was the favorite to win the the majority of the season. He won 88.57% of the vote over TCU's Max Duggan, Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud, and Georgia's Stetson Bennett.
Not only is Williams the first Black starting quarterback for USC in more than 30 years, but he is also the first Heisman winner at USC in 17 years.
The sophomore quarterback set school records for total touchdowns and total offensive yards at 47 TDs and 4,447 offensive yards.
Lincoln Riley also continues to build quite the resume himself. He can now say he’s coached three Heisman winners: Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and now Caleb Williams.
Heading into 2023, Williams says the job isn't done. After all, amongst the finalists, Williams is the only one not competing in the playoffs.
After USC’s Pac-12 Championship loss to Utah and a missed chance to go to the College Football Playoffs, he and coach Riley aim to reach that mark next season.
From William’s dominant play, many have compared him to Patrick Mahomes. Though he still has another year before he can declare for the NFL Draft, the way things are looking, he is already a no-brainer No. 1 pick for 2024.
Baker gets it done.
After last Thursday’s game, everyone was talking about Baker Mayfield.
Los Angeles erased a 16-3 deficit against the Raiders for the dub and it was all thanks to a guy who had just put on a Rams jersey for the first time that same day.
After the Carolina Panthers told Mayfield that he'd be their third-string quarterback, Mayfield asked to be released on Monday and was then picked up by the Rams on Thursday.
On Thursday night, he led a 98-yard game-winning drive in the final minute. Mayfield hit Van Jefferson with nine seconds left for the game-winning score.
Many thought the game was wrapped once the Raiders led 16-3 in the fourth quarter. The Rams were just so bad on offense throughout the game, especially with the absence of top receivers, Cooper Kupp and Allen Robinson.
Though Mayfield didn't make much noise through the beginning of the game, all that really matters is the final minutes in the fourth.
Talk about a complete 180 within just three days.
That’s how you make an introduction! With that 17-16 victory, it snapped the Rams 6-game losing streak.

Morocco is off to the World Cup semifinals!
After their 1-0 win over Portugal, the team made history as the first African team to make it to the tournament’s final four.
Three African countries have reached the quarterfinals before – Cameroon in 1990, Senegal in 2002 and Ghana in 2010 – but all missed the mark in making it to the semifinals.
Morocco came into the game against Portugal as the underdogs, but their defense prevailed and pushed them to victory on Saturday.
Youssef En-Nesyri scored the game’s only goal as he headed the ball into the net just minutes before halftime.
Morocco stunned Portugal and marked what could be Cristiano Ronaldo’s last World Cup. Though the Portuguese star has racked up many accolades, he is still left without that ultimate achievement.
He took to Instagram to share how he felt about chasing that dream of his:
In the five times I was present in World Cups throughout 16 years, always next to great players and supported by millions of Portuguese, I gave it my all. I left everything on the pitch. I never faced away from the fight and I never gave up on that dream…Unfortunately, that dream ended [Saturday]
Ronaldo scored only one goal in Portugal’s five matches in the tournament and became the first player to score in five World Cups. Despite his efforts, he might not get another chance come 2026. By then, the star will be 41.
Down goes Brazil.
In Friday’s quarterfinal Croatia sent home Neymar and Brazil after winning on penalties 1-1 (4-2).
What a game it was for Neymar. He scored a solo goal in extra-time and that goal alone tied Pele’s international scoring record at 77 goals.
Unfortunately, it wasn't quite game over as they thought it would be. Croatian striker, Bruno Petković sent the game into penalties and Brazil just couldn't get it done in extra-time.
Croatia’s goalkeeper Dominik Livaković sealed the deal in the shootout, after failed attempts from Brazil. Neymar, too, was unfortunately unable to make a penalty.
Just when they thought they had it, Brazil’s players found themselves in tears by the end of the game…and not happy ones.
Eagles are flying into the Playoffs.
Not like we all didn't see it coming, but the Eagles are the first team this season to punch their playoff ticket.
In Sunday’s blowout win over the Giants, not only did the 48-22 victory secure their spot, but a few players contributed by making a statement themselves.
Miles Sanders became the first Eagles running back to accumulate over 1,000 rushing yards since LeSean McCoy did back in 2014.
Sander’s teammate, A.J. Brown also became the first Eagles wide receiver to get over 1,000 receiving yards since Jeremy Maclin in 2014.
And of course, Jalen Hurts had a stellar performance per usual. Most notably, in the third quarter, he rushed into the end zone to extend the team’s lead while scoring his 10th rushing touchdown of the season.
He is now the only quarterback in NFL history with double-digit rushing touchdowns in back-to-back seasons.
As a team, Philadelphia ran for 251, threw for 217, and scored on eight of 10 possessions. It’s clear this team has things under control.
Herbert outshines Tua.
The big question has been: Justin Herbert or Tua Tagovailoa?
Well, one thing is for certain—there was only one clear winner Sunday night.
Against the Dolphins, Herbert threw for 367 yards to pull his team to victory 23-17.
Early into the game, L.A. had a 10-point lead in their near-perfect first half.
Although the Chargers came into the game with one of the league’s worst defenses, they were able to shut down Miami, and Tua as well.
Tua ended the night 10 of 28 for 145 yards and one touchdown. He was definitely outshined by Herbert.
Los Angeles currently has a playoff spot as they sit No. 7 following that victory.
