The 2022 FIFA World Cup is here!
On Sunday, Qatar went against Ecuador and lost 2-0. As the host nation, that’s not how you’re supposed to start things off. You’re supposed to be the big dawgs, this is your stomping grounds!
Ecuador didn’t seem to care about that. They came out hot with the first goal when Ecuador's all time leading scorer, Enner Valencia put them in front inside just 3 minutes of the game starting.
Unfortunately, the boys celebrated that one a bit too early after a VAR check ruled the goal was offside. Which, btw, many fans thought it should've counted.
Either way, Ecuador got the point back once Valencia scored a PK goal after Qatar’s goalkeeper, Saad Abdullah Al Sheeb, was yellow carded.
I think Valencia took the early offside penalty personally. They ended up scoring all of the team’s points with his second goal of the game. It’s no surprise the Player of the Match award went to Ecuador’s star forward.
Even with him leaving in the middle match with an injury, Qatar simply had no answer. They went scoreless this game.
Yikes, becoming the first host nation to lose its opening match of the World Cup…not so much a flex.

USC movin’ on up!
The Trojan’s 48-45 win over UCLA on Saturday puts them in the Pac-12 Championship Game.
Quarterback Caleb Williams showed why he’s currently one of the best quarterbacks in college football. Could very well be the Heisman favorite.
In Saturday's game he passed for a career-high 470 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 33 yards and a touchdown.
The Trojans fight on into the top five of the AP Poll for the first time since 2017.

Splash Bros are back at it!
In the 127-120 victory over the Rockets, Klay and Steph both racked up numbers.
Thompson had a season high of 10 3's with a total of 41 points. And if that wasn’t enough, Steph of course had to join in on the fun.
The eight-time All-Star punched in 33 points and 15 assists. He put the Rocket’s to sleep with his dagger in the fourth with a classic fadeaway 3-pointer. At this point, you should already expect anything he shoots to go in.
First road win of the year for the Dubs.
Speaking of great duos…Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes. The two came to get it done in Sunday night’s game.
Kelce is arguably the best TE of all time, while Mahomes is arguably the best QB in the league. These two are unstoppable.
We’re witnessing greatness in front of our eyes.
Kelce passed Rob Gronkowski for most 100-yard receiving games by a TE in NFL history, recorded the most 1,000-yard seasons by any TE ever, and now has as many 10-TD seasons as Tony Gonzalez.
And when doesn’t Mahomes deliver?
To take the lead late in the fourth, the young quarterback connected with Travis Kelce for a 17-yard touchdown with 31 seconds left- his third touchdown of the game.
The Chiefs pulled out a 30-27 victory over the Chargers.
USMNT versus Wales or USMNT versus the refs?
USA was off to a good start with Tim Weah scoring the first goal of the game, but the refs also had plans of their own.
They handed out two yellow cards within the first 15 minutes against Sergino Dest and Weston McKennie. Meanwhile, failed to give out a yellow to Wales after Christian Pulisic was clearly hit.
Regardless, the young team looked pretty dominant out there in the first half. In the second, though, Wales pushed back.
Late in the game, Wales captain Gareth Bale scored on a penalty kick to end the game in a draw 1-1 at the 82nd minute.
Looks like the US will have to try at a win in their next matchup with England on Friday.
