NFL Free Agency is Here 🔥

Credit: ESPN

NFL Free Agency has officially started and so far the results have been pretty crazy! Here are some of the biggest signings so far!

Derek Carr: New Orleans Saints

Derek Carr got things started in free agency after the Las Vegas Raiders cut him. He visited with both the New York Jets and the New Orleans Saints and ultimately went with the Saints. Their Head Coach, Dennis Allen, originally drafted Carr to the Raiders so they know each other well. The cupboard isn’t bare in New Orleans either. The defense still has a ton of playmakers and Carr will get help from Chris Olave downfield and Alvin Kamara. This could end up being a good fit.

Jalen Ramsey: Miami Dolphins

The Los Angeles Rams decided to move off Jalen Ramsey and sent him to the Miami Dolphins for a third-round pick in this year’s draft and tight end Hunter Long. Ramsey had worn out his welcome in Los Angeles and it’s a signal that the Rams still have work to do after going all-in for that one Super Bowl. They need help and getting off Ramsey helps them a ton. Ramsey also gets new life in Miami, where they are going even more all-in to try and win in a loaded division. The Dolphins are definitely a contender still.

Daron Payne: Washington Commanders

Daron Payne was initially franchise tagged, but he worked on a new deal and got one for 4 years and $90 million with $60 million guaranteed. Payne’s been a force for the Commanders on the defensive line ever since he got there and the Commanders clearly value him there. This deal makes him the highest paid defensive line player not named Aaron Donald.

Javon Hargrave: San Francisco 49ers

Javon Hargrave was a huge factor for the Philadelphia Eagles’ Super Bowl run this season on the defensive line. He had a career year and had 11 sacks this season, which made a big target in free agency. The deal is for 4 years and is worth $84 million with $40 million guaranteed. He joins an already stacked 49ers defense too.

Jimmy Garoppolo: Las Vegas Raiders

Jimmy Garoppolo signed with his former offensive coordinator when he was in New England, Josh McDaniels. The deal is for 3 years and worth $67.5 million. This was a bit of a surprise as the Raiders were interested in trading up in the draft for a quarterback, but now they get their guy in Garoppolo. The question now is if they are really done at the quarterback position.

Jessie Bates: Atlanta Falcons

Jessie Bates was an underrated safety when he was in Cincinnati and his contract with Atlanta reflects more of his value. He got a deal for 4 years, worth $65 million. He was the latest in a spending spree the Falcons went on and is quietly the most valuable piece they signed. Atlanta really needs help in defense and he’ll be there to do that a lot.

Darren Waller: New York Giants

Darren Waller’s been one of the best tight ends in the NFL since he broke out with the Raiders. The Giants traded a third-round pick for Waller. He gives Daniel Jones a much-needed receiving option after he didn’t have much to throw to this past season. This has the chance to work great, especially with Waller in Head Coach, Brian Daboll’s, offensive system.

Stephon Gilmore: Dallas Cowboys

The Indianapolis Colts are sending Stephon Gilmore to the Dallas Cowboys for a fifth-round pick. Gilmore is a five-time Pro Bowler and is a former Defensive Player of the Year. He still has some gas left and the Cowboys are a perfect fit for him there with there focus on defense and having one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL in Dan Quinn.

Ronnie 2K beef with Klay explained 👀

Ronnie “2K” Singh is the marketing lead/community manager and face of the giant video game franchise, NBA 2K.

He’s the guy that people will associate with the game, rightly or wrongly, even if he’s not the guy directly responsible for things in the game like player ratings.

The most public “feud” he’s had with a player over ratings was with Klay Thompson. Steph Curry was rated a 99 from distance, while Klay, Damian Lillard, and Kevin Durant were all tied for second at a rating of 88, and Thompson, being the competitor he is, did NOT like that.

Thompson’s gone at Ronnie 2K over this specific rating quite a bit, whether it was across social media like Twitter, or in-person at a basketball game or elsewhere.

16-seed Southeastern Missouri State vs 16-seeded Texas A&M Corpus Christi:

The Corpus Christ islanders beat the SEMO St. Redhawks in the tip-off game of the NCAA Tournament in Dayton, Ohio. Jalen Jackson was the standout for Islanders where he scored 22 points. The Islanders now move on to play the top overall seed, Alabama.

11-seed Mississippi State vs 11-seed Pitt:

The Bulldogs faced off against the Panthers in defensive struggle. Mississippi State is a very good defensive team, while Pitt is better on offense. Nelly Cummings was the standout at point guard for Pitt and scored 15 points to lead the Panthers into the next round. They now face Iowa State in the Round of 64 which also plays very similar to Mississippi State.
